The Liquitex Modeling Paste (also sometimes called ‘Molding Paste’ or ‘Modelling Paste’) is a thick gel painting medium with an opaque, matt finish.
It is made of marble paste made of marble dust and 100% polymer emulsion.
Use it to build heavy textures on rigid supports and create three-dimensional forms.
It dries to the hardness of stone and can be sanded or carved when thoroughly dry.
It will adhere to any non-oily, absorbent surface.
When mixed with acrylic colours, the Liquitex Modeling Paste will act as a weak tinting white, while increasing thickness and rigidity.
It is also an excellent substrate for acrylic paint, oil paint, oil pastel, oil bars, watercolour, graphite or dry pastel.
Apply with knife, brush, cake decorating tools, etc.
To prevent shrinkage cracks (mud cracking), dry slowly by covering loosely with plastic wrap. Apply less than 1/4″ thick.
Mix with acrylic colours to produce a coloured tinted paste.
When dry, the paste may be painted with acrylic or oil colours.
I love modeling paste!! Use it to create really fun texture (my favourite way is with a stencil).
If you have my No Shenanigans book, I give you a taste of what it’s like to play with in Chapter 5 😉
You can also get really pretty results by painting over (when dry of course) with watercolour.
I know you will LOVE creating texture with modeling paste in your art journal or any kind of painting, just give it a go!
